and most other BlackVue DR-series cameras. Modern X-series (DR900X, DR970X, DR750X, DR770X, DR590X) store GPS inside the MP4; the legacy DR450/500/550/650 line uses a separate .gps sidecar file — both work.
How BlackVue stores recordings
Newer BlackVue X-series cameras (DR900X+, DR970X, etc.) store GPS as NMEA text inside a custom 'free' box of the MP4 — same format the older models used for the separate .gps sidecar. Filenames follow YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS_<Mode><Channel>.mp4, where Mode = N/E/P/M (Normal/Event/Parking/Manual) and Channel = F/R/I (Front/Rear/Interior). dashcamigo reads both the embedded and sidecar variants automatically.

FAQ
Which BlackVue models work in dashcamigo?
All BlackVue DR-series cameras: modern X-series with embedded GPS (DR900X, DR900X Plus, DR970X / DR970X Plus, DR750X, DR770X, DR590X) and legacy models with .gps sidecar files (DR450, DR500, DR550, DR650). The parser also reads the 3-axis accelerometer track from the .3gf sidecar where present.
Do I need BlackVue Viewer or a BlackVue Cloud account?
No. dashcamigo plays BlackVue recordings without any BlackVue software or account. Plug the SD card into your computer, drop the BlackVue folder onto dashcamigo.app — trips appear with map and chart, fully offline.
Will my BlackVue recordings be uploaded to a server?
No. There is no backend at all. The browser reads files locally with the File System Access API. Nothing leaves your device — unlike BlackVue Cloud, which routes through their servers.
Does dashcamigo show both front and rear BlackVue cameras?
Yes. BlackVue dual-channel models write the same timestamp to a front (F) and rear (R) file. dashcamigo groups them into one trip and plays both in sync. Click either channel to make it the main view, or keep them side by side.
Can I export a clip from a BlackVue trip?
Yes. Drag a range on the speed chart, click Export, and dashcamigo writes an MP4 with the GPS embedded as GPMF metadata. The original H.264/H.265 stream is copied without re-encoding when possible — fast and lossless.
