How Viofo stores recordings
Viofo cameras (Novatek chipset) write H.264 or H.265 MP4 with GPS embedded as binary freeGPS blocks inside the video file — no separate log file. The filename pattern YYYY_MMDD_HHMMSS_NNN<P?><F|R|I>.MP4 encodes the date, sequence number, parking flag and channel (Front / Rear / Interior). dashcamigo recognizes the pattern, scans the file for the freeGPS structure and renders the route automatically.

FAQ
Which Viofo models work in dashcamigo?
Viofo cameras using the standard Novatek freeGPS format work out of the box: A119/A119 V3, A129 Plus Duo, A129 Pro Duo, A139, A139 Pro, A229 Pro/Plus/Duo, T130, WM1. The underlying parser also covers other Novatek-chipset brands (Vantrue, Akaso, Azdome, Kenwood, Nextbase 512GW), so files from a Viofo and a Vantrue camera in the same folder will both load.
Do I need Viofo's own app or PC viewer?
No. dashcamigo plays Viofo recordings without any vendor software. Plug the SD card into your computer, drop the folder onto dashcamigo.app — trips appear with map and chart in seconds.
Will Viofo recordings be uploaded?
No. There is no backend. The browser reads files locally and decodes them with WebCodecs. Nothing leaves your device.
Does dashcamigo handle Viofo dual-channel (A129/A229) cameras?
Yes. The channel suffix (F = front, R = rear, I = interior) in the Viofo filename pattern tells dashcamigo which file is which. Files from the same moment in time are grouped into one trip and play in sync. Click any channel to make it the main view.
Can I trim a clip from a Viofo recording?
Yes. Drag a range on the speed chart, click Export, and dashcamigo writes an MP4 with the GPS track embedded as GPMF metadata. The original H.264/H.265 video is stream-copied (no re-encoding) when possible, so export is fast and quality-lossless.
