FAQ

Short answers

Why a website and not an app?
A modern browser reads files and plays video no slower than a native app. And a website is safer: it doesn't need full device permissions, it sees only the files you explicitly opened and can't reach the network outside the browser's security policy. A random third‑party app from an unclear source has no such limits — it gets access to your whole disk and network at once. A website doesn't need updates either — open a tab and you're always on the latest version, bugs are fixed the same day.
Which dashcams are supported?
70mai, Viofo, BlackVue, GoPro, Garmin, Vantrue, Thinkware, FitCamX, Juscar, Escort, Carcam, Navitel, RVMI and others. Anything that writes standard .mp4, .mov or .ts to an SD card opens without setup.
Are my recordings uploaded anywhere?
No. There is no backend. The browser reads files locally via the File System Access API and decodes them via WebCodecs. File content is never sent to any server — guaranteed by the Content‑Security‑Policy (see ).
Which devices does it run on?
Any device with a modern browser: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS. On iOS you need Safari 16+. Can be installed as a PWA — works offline.
How much does it cost?
Free. No sign-up, no subscriptions, no hidden charges.
Can I cut out a clip and save it as a file?
Yes. You can trim the timeline, stitch cameras, burn speed, coordinates and a mini-map onto each frame, re-encode and save as MP4 with GPS inside the file or as a separate .gpx track. A still saves as PNG without re-encoding.
Try Safari or Edge — they usually have a system decoder. Or save a clip: export skips decoding and opens in any player.
